Nolan Lawrence

Chief Information Officer

Texas native Nolan Lawrence first moved to Missouri in 2008 to form The HillBenders, an internationally known string band best known for their acoustic take on the Who’s iconic rock opera “Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry”. As a band leader, Nolan’s responsibilities have included marketing and publicity, business administration, booking and logistics, financial planning and analysis, social networking, graphic design, and creative control.

Prior to and during this time, Nolan concurrently operated as freelance creative and business consultant for clients in several states. He eventually landed a contract with a California Medical Marijuana startup called King Harvest Wellness to craft their launch campaign, branding, marketing, digital media, and website programming and assets. This contract later became an offer to relocate to CA and join the company full time as a partner and creative director where he oversaw all aspects of manufacturing operations, marketing, finances, staffing, and management. What began in a garage as a Full Extract Cannabis Oil startup, became a fully operational facility and a widely recognized brand grossing over $2.5M in the second year of business under Nolan’s direct influence. After departing King Harvest, Nolan continued working with other Cannabis based businesses in CA over the next two years, including Peak 19 Extracts, Cannabucha Beverages, and TexOz Holdings LLC, providing branding, marketing, and product development consulting services.

In early 2019, Nolan followed the cannabis legalization movement back to Missouri. After meeting with the Kansas City Cannabis team in April, he was immediately hired as a consultant to lend his extensive industry specific knowledge and expertise to the KCC planning and application writing efforts. His integrity, work ethic and intelligence caught the attention of KCC ownership and eventually Nolan was offered the role of Chief Information Officer for KCC where he currently helps to oversee all aspects of this growing business.

During his extensive travels as a touring musician, Nolan has developed a love of fine food, art, architecture, and natural beauty. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, rafting, and several outdoor sports. His creative urges are often appeased with creative writing, songwriting, gourmet cooking, and occasionally woodworking. A prolific learner and self-identified tech-nerd, Nolan enjoys self-guided study in programming languages, artificial intelligence, machine learning and electronic automation.
