By: Hugo Ortiz

We are thrilled to announce that Kansas City Cannabis (KCC) is expanding its horizons with the opening of a brand-new storefront, set to replace our beloved Blue Springs location. Nestled in the heart of the community, the new KCC store finds its home in the same building that once housed the iconic Bob Evans restaurant. This location was chosen with our customers' convenience in mind. Easily accessible and far more visible, it's a breeze to reach for both locals and visitors alike. Not to mention, the improved parking facilities ensure a hassle-free experience right from the moment you arrive.

One of the most exciting features of our new location is the introduction of a drive-through service. Understanding the fast-paced lives of our customers, this addition is all about bringing efficiency and ease to your cannabis shopping experience. Whether you're on a tight schedule or prefer the comfort of your car, our drive-through option makes picking up your to-go orders simpler and quicker than ever before.

While the new storefront marks a leap in terms of size and layout, we are committed to maintaining the laid-back and comfortable ambiance that KCC is known for. It's a space where you can unwind, explore our range of products, and feel at home.

As we gear up for the grand opening in February 2024, we're also excited to foreshadow another big step for KCC. In the summer of 2024, we're planning to open our 5th location in Kansas City - North. This expansion reflects our commitment to bringing quality cannabis products and exceptional service to more communities.

Stay tuned for the exact grand opening date of our new store, which we will announce as soon as we receive confirmation from the state on our commencement. We can't wait to welcome you to our new home and continue serving you with the same dedication and quality you've come to expect from Kansas City Cannabis. Here's to new beginnings and continued growth!

Embracing Change and Challenging Stigmas: Alexis Sieverin's Journey in Cannabis

Alexis Sieverin, a vibrant soul with a rich professional history rooted in the hospitality industry, now stands as a beacon within the cannabis landscape. Hailing from Kansas City, her transition into cannabis was a departure from the norms, a leap driven by a desire for change and a personal calling to explore the medicinal potential of this once-stigmatized plant.

Reflecting on her upbringing, Alexis recalls how cannabis carried a negative stereotype during her formative years. The prevailing stereotype of laziness and lack of motivation associated with it painted an initial biased picture. However, her firsthand experience with the plant shattered these misconceptions. Cannabis became her solace, offering relief from anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. It transformed into a medicinal remedy, a "beautiful plant" capable of healing.

Her foray into the cannabis industry was serendipitous, stumbling upon an opening that felt like a shot in the dark. Joining as a part-timer, Alexis cautiously dipped her toes into this new domain. The worry of societal labels and the credibility of the industry loomed large. Yet, her journey swiftly evolved, swiftly transitioning to a full-time role and rising through the ranks, proving to be a perfect fit.

Alexis's evolving relationship with cannabis mirrors the broader societal shift. Educating herself about its multifaceted applications transformed her perception. She champions the diverse uses of cannabis beyond the stereotypical notions of being 'stoned,' embracing its medicinal possibilities. As a proud 'Canna Mom,' she defies societal stigmas, incorporating cannabis as part of her life and parenting.

Within the dispensary, Alexis fosters an environment that transcends stereotypes. Her role encompasses not just retail responsibilities but also challenging preconceived notions about cannabis. She navigates the challenge of altering mindsets, introducing customers to micro-dosing and varied cannabinoids. Alexis strives to destigmatize cannabis use among parents, advocating for open discussions and even bringing children into the dispensary to normalize the conversation.

Her journey isn’t confined to her role; it's about making a difference in people's lives. Alexis actively engages in ongoing education through podcasts, and social media, staying abreast of the ever-evolving cannabis landscape. Her advice to new customers is simple yet profound: be open-minded. It's a principle that guides her interactions, leading her to moments like when she recommended the perfect strain, Juggernaut from VIBE Cannabis, providing a patron with much-needed pain relief—a testament to the rewarding nature of her work.

Looking ahead, Alexis is enthusiastic about the industry's growth, especially as her dispensary, KCC, gears up to open a new storefront in Blue Springs, and a new store In Kansas City - North. As she envisions her future, her aspirations soar. From her current role as Third Key, she sees the possibility of managing her own store, a testament to her dedication and passion for this burgeoning industry.

Local Cannabis - Papaya 1g Rosin

“Local Cannabis has crossed Citral #13 x Ice #20, resulting in a lovely Rosin, Papaya! It's an Indica that promotes a nice body euphoria and relaxation. A great mood booster as well. The effects aren't heavy, but they are effective! Limonene, Myrcene, Caryophyllene are the top three terpenes. Providing a sweet and bright flavor profile with a bit of Earthy undertones. Very smooth inhale. I suggest this strain for anyone looking to relieve ailments and also keep their mind active!”

Cannabis-Infused Chili:A Warm and Comforting Winter Dish

As the brisk winter winds blow, there's nothing quite as satisfying as a bowl of hot, flavorful chili. Our Cannabis-Infused Chili recipe takes this classic comfort food to a new level, combining the hearty, robust flavors of traditional chili with the relaxing properties of THC. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or for sharing with friends during a winter get-together. Here's how you can make this delicious and comforting cannabis-infused chili:

cranberry orange cheesecake

Ingredients:
¼ cup THC-infused olive oil (adjust dosage based on preference and potency)
2 lbs ground beef or turkey (or a vegetarian substitute like quinoa or tempeh for a plant-based option)
1 large onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
2 cans kidney beans (15 oz each), drained and rinsed
2 cans diced tomatoes (14.5 oz each), with juice
3 tablespoons tomato paste
2-3 tablespoons chili powder (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, chopped green onions, cilantro

Instructions:
Cook the Meat and Veggies
1. In a large pot, heat the THC-infused olive oil over medium heat.
2. Add the onions, garlic, and bell peppers. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.
3. Add the ground meat (or vegetarian substitute) to the pot. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
Combine the Ingredients
1. Stir in the kidney beans, diced tomatoes with their juice, and tomato paste. Mix well.
2. Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine all the ingredients evenly.
Simmer the Chili
1. Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer, uncovered, for at least 30 minutes to an hour. The longer it simmers, the more the flavors will meld together.
2. Stir occasionally, and add a little water or broth if the chili gets too thick for your liking.
Season and Serve
1. Season the chili with salt and pepper to taste.
2. Serve hot in bowls, garnished with your choice of toppings like sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions, or cilantro.
Safety and Dosage
1. Be mindful of the potency of your THC-infused oil. Start with a smaller amount if you're unsure, and you can always add more to individual servings if needed.
2. Remember that the effects of edibles can take longer to manifest and can be more potent than smoking.

Enjoy your Cannabis-Infused Chili! This dish is not only delicious but also provides the comforting warmth of chili with the added relaxation benefits of cannabis, making it a perfect meal for those chilly winter evenings.
